Barley news Ukraine: Government approved draft Decree on raising grains export quotes

The Ukrainian Minister of Economics, Vladimir Makukha, said that the Ukrainian government has preliminary approved November 22 the draft Decree referring to the increase of Ukrainian grain export quotes with their simultaneous prolonging until this MY end (Jul 2007), Agro Perspectiva released November 27.

The Minister said that even the Decree was adopted in whole, additional decision on examination of quotes possible volumes was also taken up. He added Government members supported this Decree urgent approval.

Minister admitted after new Decree introduction previous Decree (which had established quotes until end this year) would be cancelled. “We will abolish previous Decree and introduce new mechanism based on experience of Ukrainian traders market work,” said Makukha.

As to Agro Perspective earlier report, Ministry of Economics had initiated quotes volumes/licenses issuing procedure for agricultural products whose exports are to be licensed until Jun 30, 2007 in order to create mechanism assuring procedure of export quotes transparent tender sales for certain kinds of agricultural products.

As to Agro Perspective, with its draft Decree, Cabinet had established an export quote for barley of 1.3 million t to be efficient until Jun 30, 2007.

It is to be reminded that November 01, 2006, the Ukrainian Cabinet had introduced November-December 2006 export quotes barley of 600,000 t.
